"The West I liked best" - Oscar Wilde - Summer Hiking Adventures

Things have been quite busy and I let the blog move to the back burner-shame. To catch you up, there has been lots of hiking, good times with new and old friends. Ion went back to SC to take the bar (thank goodness that's over! until February...) We've been doing some unpacking, we finally have a bed! And then lots more hiking.

My mom sent me a CNN article today called The Best of the West in Colorado and it was the inspiration I needed to share some of our recent hiking pictures. The article says, "all of Colorado is something of a fantasy land, with the ever-present postcard views" and every time we go out into the mountains or even driving along the highway that proves true. It is BEAUTIFUL here, not to mention there is ZERO humidity the likes of which only a South Carolina native can truly appreciate. Seriously. It's gotten up the the upper 90s and we have no AC, that would never fly back home. So in the interest of being a less shitty blogger, here are some highlights of our hikes this summer. (Also if you decide to read the CNN article because you're either bored at work or really excited about Colorado, picture number 6 is where we started our first hike.)

Hike 1: Royal Arch where I learned the hard way not to wear a gray cotton shirt whike hiking (eww sweaty)

At the top!

Hike 3 & 5: Table Mountain (Juneau and I did Lookout Mtn (Hike 2) but I can't seem to get the pictures off my phone...oops.)

Juneau and Kenny checking out the Coors brewery. (Side note: when Ion got back from taking the bar we did this hike on a Monday night because he hadn't gotten to do any exploring since he had to study (boo) and while we were almost in this exact same spot Juneau decided she wanted to go out on a rock hanging just below the edge of a huge drop off and couldn't get back up so Ion had to pull her by her tail so she didn't fall off the edge of the mountain. After that he was so stressed out about Juneau falling off the edges that we had to head down. Yea. And he claims he's "not a dog person.")

Hike 4: Green Mountain-longest and most fun hike so far!

Juneau may be part mountain lion.

That's all for now but we are planning on Bear Peak this weekend and our first camping trip and fourteener next week!

*Thanks to Carl for most of the pictures since I now can't find my camera battery!
